UEC should not be recognized because:

1. Does not follow National Education Policy and not adhering to Malaysian Examination Syndicate standards.
2. Worsens the current all-too-tough competition among government pathway students to get into university.
3. Will be unfair to students who took government pathways to pursue a degree in university.
4. Reduces Malay language proficiency among UEC students (BM is national language).
5. Would possibly cause more misunderstanding among citizens.
6. Minimal focus on Malaysian history and culture causes lack of patriotism among UEC students.
7. Gives advantages to the already well-off family and worsens the situation of the less financially capable students to pursue for quality education.
8. Reasons stated in journals and articles that advocate recognizing UEC often revolves around humanity and respect which might not necessarily be the utmost important issue as of now.
