I was a delegate to the state party convention and insist that our elected officials be held accountable to the party platform. It's no wonder that language to that effect was ruled out of order at the convention, Our elected officials seem intent on abandoning the party platform and replacing legislation with ballot initiatives that require enormous amounts of volunteer time, energy and capital. DO YOUR JOB and pass these bills that support values that you purport to hold.

Our democrats need to support these laws that our for the people. The Democratic Party needs to show fight for the people-- or it's disingenuous and leads to losing.

As a delegate at the 2016 MA Democratic Convention, I was thrilled to have taken part on drafting the most progressive platform this state has seen. The voters of this state overwhelmingly demand a $15/hr minimum wage, Single-payer healthcare, and passage of the Safe Communities Act. The Democratic supermajority in the Statehouse could easily pass these items with veto-proof majorities. The Chairman of the State Democratic Party and the party leadership are sitting on their hands.

As a member of the Cambridge Ward 6 committee and a delegate to the 2016 state convention, I am very disappointed in how little progress has been made towards the clear, achievable goals laid out in the state party platform. The fact that many key planks are being moved forward through ballot initiatives rather than legislation is an abdication of responsibility on the part of our Democratic legislators, and the fact that it is allowed highlights a lack of leadership by the state party.

I'm a member of the Somerville Ward 7 Comittee and a delegate to the last State Party Convention in Worcester; the Chair asking us to run around gathering signatures to accomplish legislation we ordered last June is pathetic. This is an insult to the party members. The Massachusetts Democratic Party must name, shame, and discipline elected officials who disobey us. Pass all of the above legislation without delay.
