We, the Lower six students at Presentation College, San Fernando are at a disadvantage as the administration has proposed that we should write mock examinations at the end of March in order to familiarise ourselves with the examination settings which will be exposed to the students in May. However, we have just recently completed the rigorous CSEC examinations and hence, have already gotten accustomed to the examination environment. During this period, teaching can continue while shorter assessments could be administered simultaneously within existing class periods in order to procure a grade which will help to determine a student’s level of competency. Also, the time which is being proposed for mock exams could be more wisely utilized to complete outstanding syllabi, undergo intense revision with past papers and complete Internal Assessments which are required for the CAPE examinations for all subjects.
