We need LACMA to be beautiful but large enough to display the magnificent collections for which it is known. Please stop the demolition snd go back to the drawing board with public feedback about the size and architecture of the new museum.
Do not sneak around because of COVID. This is no excuse to hide plans and proceed as Govan wants.

It's important to preserve history, and not to tear it down...

This is such a bad idea I can't even believe it. Remember when the freeway fell down because of an earthquake? So we've got a bridge over Wilshire Boulevard filled with art -- that's assuming they can figure out how to hang the art on concrete walls -- and I doubt that bridge is going to be built to the kind of specs the freeway is -- so we have another big quake and now we have millions of dollars of Art in the rubble atop Wilshire Boulevard.

Plus the idea that having different art on different levels of a multi-story building automatically implies hierarchy is just academic fucking bullshit.

I am opposed to this design that reduces the gallery space at a tremendous cost. Spend the money on educational programs!!

The design concept is a drab compromise, and it’s too small for our area’s only encyclopedic art museum. Also, the curatorial staff should have offices near their respective galleries, so they can continually walk through to monitor the state of the display and to gauge visitors’ reactions, etc.

This plan is outrageous!

Contre la mort des collections permanentes et ou la réduction drastique de celles-ci.

As an architect who grew up and spent most of my life in L.A. I well remember the original LACMA and have enjoyed the various changes and integration with the La Brea Tar Pits park. The proposed destruction of the old and construction of a new, rushed design with less display space is not well thought out and needs to be stopped while other, better ideas are considered.

I am horrified by what is happening at LACMA.
