STOP - THE REMOVAL OF OUR 2ND FIRE ENGINE IN KINGSTON

We, the undersigned, residents, businesses and members of the communities of Ham & Petersham, Canbury, Tudor, Norbiton, Grove and Surbiton Hill Wards call on The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority to reconsider their plans to relocate our 2nd Fire Engine from Kingston Fire Station to Worcester Park. We are very concerned by the effect this will have on the response times for us, our homes and the buildings in our areas and are not satisfied that the consultation was effective or meaningful.
Most residents were completely unaware of it and the only public meeting arranged by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) was held in Surbiton, not at the potentially affected station Kingston which makes no sense. A minuscule proportion of residents have filled in the online consultation which reflects the fact that an inadequate consultation was carried out. Kingston is already meeting its target times, and the slightly increased arrival rates of the second engine across other parts of Kingston and Merton does not justify the significant drop in second engine arrival times for Ham and Petersham, Canbury, Tudor, Norbiton, Grove and Surbiton Hill wards. We are also very concerned that the LFEPA has not properly considered the negative impact to response times this could have to the tall buildings in Canbury, Kingston town centre and Norbiton and also and equally importantly, the old, historical and listed buildings in the area including our National Trust treasure Ham House which is heralded as "unique in Europe as the complete survival of 17th century fashion and power".
No consideration appears to be given to the Go Cycle projects across the borough which will create potentially longer response times at peak or existing approved planning permissions which will lead to more houses in some of the wards impacted. The LFEPA are completely ignoring the fact that Ham & Petersham is isolated with only the A307 for road access. The Firefighters of Kingston Fire Station themselves, have raised their concerns with the local councillors all who support the 2nd Fire engine remaining at Kingston Fire Station.
