A very large number of students can't find articles - still! Market this properly and you will have the money you need. The old guard made up the "two tier " crap in order to keep the status quo

I want to know that there are options available to me when I return home, having graduated with a JD from Australia.

I am signing this petition because the Law Practice Program brings an innovative solution to the lack of articling positions within Canada. More and more professionals are unable to secure work after completing their studies due to the lack of variety when it comes to articling opportunities. In addition, the legal industry is changing dramatically, and the LPP brings a new perspective on how to practice law within Canada. So why remove innovation when it's steering us in the exact direction that we're meant to go in?

It is my understanding that this program is of high caliber and dependability in providing training for newly qualified lawyers. It is 'perceived' as 2nd tier in error by industry and funding parties. I would suggest this is a PR/Educative problem and not a short fall on the part of the program itself. Educate the industry as to the worth of the program and funding will follow support. As awareness of its merits and support for the program grows, interest in and opportunities for funding will also grow.

Please do not end this amazing program. Many students need and rely on programs such as this.
You have to come consider the negative consequences of its removal not only its benefits. Thank you.

I think that it was an excellent (as per your own research) program and the problem that it was created to alleviate has not gone away - without the LPP, the students who cannot obtain articling positions or for whom the traditional articling process is inappropriate will once again be left out of the legal community. Dropping a program because of a perception is not the answer. Changing the perception is the answer - as was done before when the 5-year clerking program was gradually abandoned for the law-school model.

I'm signing because not only is there a dearth of articling positions available to new graduates, but because students from marginalized and racialized groups experience more barriers to articling positions than their peers; the LPP is not only a way to ensure that all students receive the hands-on training they need, but a way to promote equality in our profession.
