Julia Burke started this petition to The Lake Park Administration Team and School Board

Wellness Wednesdays were indeed beneficial to both the Lake Park student body as well as the teachers and staff. They provided a well needed mental break for students who have been struggling to keep up with online learning and gave more opportunities for students to receive help from their teachers. Without this time students are only given a few minutes before school(which is already incredibly early) and a few moments after which overlap with many of the remaining school activities. Not having this time could cause student to fall behind in their classes even more so than they already would with online learning. It is also unhealthy for us to be staring at a screen for a minimum of 5-6 hours a day, not including the added hours of homework and activities which also take place online. Even students in mostly AP classes benefit from at least not having to worry about every single one of their classes and having added time to seek help from teachers. Many teachers have also admitted their frustration to their students about the loss of Wellness Wednesdays stating they are losing time that they would otherwise be able to use to plan and work through the troubles they face trying to adapt to online teaching. This is time they also need to be able to get all their work done without facing over exhaustion and it is being taken from them. We respectfully ask for Wellness Wednesdays to be reinstated to provide ample time for students and teachers alike to get their work done as well as receive somewhat of a break in these incredibly troubling and stressful times. Living through a global pandemic is hard enough as it is, please give those at Lake Park a chance to breathe.
