The rate of unemployment of graduates from various tertiaries been it the universities, technical universities, polytechnics, colleges etc is at an increasing rate as compared to other countries. Students pass through alot to be able to become graduates all in the name of getting a better secured job after school.
What do we see today in our dear country, most graduates turn to be contract staff workers in various organisation which is not secured because there are no jobs and graduates cannot be home and become a burden on their parents after school. Some organisations may have criteria for employing their staffs either on contract basis or mainstream workers.
If an individual agrees per the terms and conditions of the organisation decides to still go into contract with such an organisation, there are few allowances and benefits the person should be entitled to other than been it solely his/her monthly salary. Allowances such as medicals, food, clothing among others should be given to the employee (contract worker) whose contract will probably end in a year or two.
This will serve as a motivation to that individual who would always prefer to choose a particular organisation out of the lots. Many individuals would prefer to work in organisations who will let them have a sense of belonging in the organisation and in order to work their hearts out as expected of them.
My petition is that the labour commission should look into this matter and address it.
