The circumstances that we have been faced with today due to COVID-19 are everything but easy. This situation has ruined many of the seniors last year of high-school and many of their once-in-a-lifetime memories. The decision to have a virtual graduation event instead of an actual graduation is not one that should be taken lightly. While we understand that we have to take precautions due to COVID-19, taking away a monumental moment such as graduation isn't the answer. There is other options for graduation such as postponing it into the summer, splitting graduation up between M/W and T/F sessions, allowing only family to attend, and many more options to consider before considering doing an online graduation. While we are willing to cooperate and be flexible with graduation, we are not willing to settle for an online graduation. Having so much already been taken away from the class of 2020, taking away their LAST bit of hope is not the answer. We will continue to listen to governing officials and abide by President Trump and Governor Kemp, but due to the fact that they have said nothing about social distancing in May and we plan to continue LIVE graduation sometime in the close future.
