In all professions, there are times when you run into systematic abusive behavior that is supported by those that are supposed to protect you. This causes even normally strong individuals to lose hope and give up: their talent, their connection, their confidence, their dignity, etc. Unfortunately this insidious abuse is real and few realistically have the voice or power to combat it. This movement, I feel, is trying to change that. And I support that endeavor.

Friends of mine were the victims of abuse at the hands of Cox. This man does not support the values of a Chicago Theater award winner, who obtained his award at the disgrace and abuse of others.

I am a theater artist in California. It is important for our work environment to be safe and respectful. The working conditions that led to this award were deplorable, and the actions of this individual should not be rewarded.

I am a stage manager who worked on 150 performances of Killer Joe and there is no need for the atrocities committed by D.W. Cox to fully realize that play.

The stage is made for performance, not reality. Everything they did could and should have been choreographed...everything. This is inexcusable. He sounds like an unhinged lunatic.

Because Darrell Cox shouldn't be rewarded for his abuse. This petition, and revoking his Jeff Award, are the only kinds of recognition Cox deserves.

I agree with Jacob.

"Darrell W. Cox was not the only Jeff Award winner for "Killer Joe." Rick Snyder, the director who according to The Reader article ignored complaints of abuse, was also honored. Profiles Theatre itself was also honored with the Outstanding Production award for "Killer Joe." The
Jeff Committee should consider revoking all three of these awards."
