Parent Choices started this petition to The Irish Minster for Health

All girls in 1st year in secondary schools in Ireland are offered the HPV vaccine by the HSE or will be invited to attend a HSE clinic to get the vaccine.  Most girls will be vaccinated at school by HSE immunisation teams.

However, some Parents and/or Guardian’s will not consent and provide permission for the HPV vaccine to be administered this was reflected in the HSE publish the report “HPV vaccine uptake in Ireland: 2016/2017”.

This potentially leaves girls and young women not being able to avail of free essential preventive health care until they are 25 when they are entitled to free cervical screening.

Parents and/or Guardian’s, girls and young women should have a non-vaccine option available through free cervical screens at age sixteen and at age twenty. Free cervical screens should also be available to girls that have had the HPV vaccine, at age sixteen and at age twenty.
