To get reduced fees for 3rd level students in Ireland due to impact of COVID19.
Since March 2020 and the first wave of COVID19 in Ireland, 3rd level institutions and their students have been unable to operate at the same level yet still charge the same fees.
The restrictions are necessary in the pandemic but the lack of support, understanding or even recognition of the concerns of 3rd level students by both the institutions and the government have left students feeling ignored, and taken for granted.
This petition in calling on Minister of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science along with the institutions themselves to consider the concerns of these students, and fairly review the process of tuition fees for the academic year of 2020/21.
Students were left with only days notice in September that classes would not be on campus after already sourcing accommodation for the year, many have no access to libraries or study spaces, and lack of internet & struggling to purchase the right tools to study at home (laptops & other learning resources) have left many unfairly behind.
