Problem
Only those 18 years old and older have the right to vote in local national and European referenda and elections

Solution
We need to lower the voting age to 16 to give young people the voice they’re entitled to in matters that will affect them in the near future

Personal story
I have undertaken a campaign to lower the legal voting age to 16 in Ireland as an action project for Leaving Certificate Politics and Society as I feel that Article 12 of the UN Convention in the Rights of a Child is being breached as our opinions as young people are not being considered and we are essentially being discriminated against on the grounds of age
