Petitioning "The Internet"

Ban the use of online petitions, as they are fucking pointless

Online petitions are the scourge of our time, convincing us that our opinions matter and asking us to comment on issues we probably don't understand. It takes no thought to sign an online petition, yet they often deal with vitally important matters relating to constitutional change, government policy or other massive issues, like who should be on Celebrity Big Brother.

Interactive democracy of this type doesn't encourage a healthy public forum for debate, but simply tells us that our petty, ill-thought-through opinions actually count, rather than challenging us to interact with the debate and form intelligent evidence-based decisions.

And even after you've done this thinking process, your opinion still doesn't matter, so please keep it off the internet and in your shit local pub where it belongs.

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE LUDICROUS RISE OF THESE POINTLESS ONLINE PETITIONS IS OF COURSE BY SIGNING THIS ONLINE PETITION CALLING FOR THEM TO BE BANNED.
