According to an article in the Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2017/06/07/alberta-jailed-sex-assault-victim_n_16987012.html) the mother of a young woman who had been brutally assaulted and was later "shackled and handcuffed" while giving testimony against her attacker, wishes her daughter's name to be published so the world may know who she was.
According to the same article, "The Alberta Judicial Council said Tuesday it had not received any complaints about how provincial court Judge Raymond Bodnarek conducted Blanchard's [the young woman's attacker] 2015 preliminary hearing."
The signatories of this petition wish to register an official complaint with the Alberta Judicial Council regarding the manner in which Judge Raymond Bodnarek conducted the 2015 preliminary hearing in question. We feel it is beyond unacceptable that an assault victim be shackled, kept in remand and be forced "to ride in the same prisoner van as her attacker."
We also ask that the publication ban on the young woman's name be lifted in keeping with her mother's wishes.
