We are becoming increasingly concerned about the conduct of the Victorian Police in enforcing the Chief Health Officer's Directives with regard to the COVID crisis. We understand that ultimate responsibility for officers' conduct rests with the Chief Commissioner, Mr Shane Patton.

We believe that the inordinately heavy handed approach to ordinary citizens is due to a failure of leadership. Therefore, the undersigned Australian citizens and residents, no longer have confidence in Mr Patton's capacity to lead the Victoria Police and ask you to request that he resign his commission or develop and publish an adequate service delivery model that addresses our concerns. Whilst we concede that Mr Patton has only recently been appointed to the post it is important that public officials are held accountable.

We further request an urgent review into the operational capacity of the rest of the commissioned officer corps of the Victorian Police to ensure more empathetic processes and procedures that are consistent with mainstream Australian Values.

We would be most grateful if you could expedite this matter promptly.
