Ban The Bang From Fireworks in Trinidad & Tobago!
Sep 6, 2019 —
For many years many citizens (myself included) have campaigned tirelessly without success to rid Trinidad & Tobago of fireworks. Many a Petition have been signed and shared and we are still at it, as most of us know the absolute dangers of these items (particularly in the hands of untrained citizens).
There have been articles written both on Social Media online, in the newspapers, there have been talk shows etc....with regard to the urgent need for stricter policy making, legislative amendments.to current laws.and yet nothing has happened. If not the only other option may be to move for an outright ban, (particularly as it is a waste of forex for Trinidad & Tobago).
Many a family have lost their pets to these fireworks as they have either been maimed so seriously that they eventually succumbed to their injuries or they have run away and likely died on the side of the road somewhere.on their own.
The noise also affects our Zoo animals as well as our wildlife.
Fireworks in the wrong hands has maimed many a citizen over time as well as killed a few. Just a few short years ago 3 houses were burned to the ground during fireworks use at a private home.
We are asking the Honorable Minister of National Security Stuart Young and the Government of Trinidad & Tobago to move swiftly to amend our laws to remove access to fireworks in the public hands, have stiffer penalties for those found breaking the law, make it mandatory that ONLY SILENT FIREWORKS be used, set times, dates and venues that fireworks be allowed other than that BAN IT ALL TOGETHER!
