The State Health Benefit Plan of Georgia controls the healthcare options for over 650,000 of Georgia's state employees and their dependents. 2014 has brought on major changes that have left employees facing high deductibles and upfront costs, one plan type (HRA) and a sole insurance provider. Thousands of state employees have come together to form the group T.R.A.G.I.C. & Friends (Teachers Rally Against Georgia Insurance Changes) to create awareness and petition the Governor, Department of Community Health and legislators to HEAR OUR STORIES and review this detrimental new healthcare plan. Georgia's public servants depend on YOU to ensure that their medical needs are met with affordable options to choose from - options that will not bankrupt us and our families!
The 2014 changes to the SHBP are a temporary fix that do not address long-term funding issues, protect our reserves or ensure that we will have affordable options in 2015 and beyond. It is IMPERATIVE that Georgia's state employees have access to affordable healthcare options in order to care for their families while they dedicate their lives to serving ours!
