Arumpo road safety

To all who travel along Arumpo road and friends and family of the Mildura/ Wentworth community,
You may have been advised that recently a discussion was instigated on the need to seal Arumpo road providing sealed and safe access to the World Heritage Mungo Park.
I am sure that you are also aware of the large increase in visitors to Mungo National park last year, including increasing numbers of young students and school children.
We at mungo lodge have always been very concerned as to the safety of the road for all road users. Most of the traveler's who use Arumpo road are from our own local community and local station owners as well as young students and international guests who are new to the experience off road driving to say the least.
This year, unfortunately we have already had four vehicles roll off the road this year alongside numerous vehicles that have been 'written off' due to the condition of the road. Last week infact we had a vehicle roll on Arumpo road with two international guest as passengers, who luckily were assisted by locals.
Thankfully, there has been no fatalities as of date, however it's imperative that the condition of the road is rectified to ensure the safety of our family, friends and visitors.
As you'll see in the images attached, the road can cause extreme damage to motor vehicles, and potentially harm passengers.
As a result from approaching government resources, politicians, and Wentworth shire a discussion with Susan Ley MP, Adrian Piccoli (state MP) and the Wentworth council has already been instigated, but we have been advised that there is a possibility of funding available if the project is supported by the local community, which intern will promote the safer travel conditions of Arumpo road.
We need Arumpo road to be sealed and safe for our family, friends and visitors; and you do too!
If you are interested in creating safer roads for travellers of this road which include, travellers, friends, families and workmen please leave us a comment, and sign this petition with us.
Feel free to message the Mungo Lodge Facebook page with any concerns.
In the mean time, we wish you safe travels.
