Ban the HCSB Dress Code
Ban the HCSB Dress Code

The Henderson County School Board Of Education has a dress code in place that not only sexualizes (mostly) underage females but also affects the education and environment of schools in the county.
When girls go to school, their clothing should not be in conversation. They should not be made feel uncomfortable because faculty or staff sexualized their clothing. A girl’s stomach should not attract your faculty’s attention. A girl’s shoulders should not attract your faculty’s attention. A girl’s ripped jeans, or legs for that matter, should not attract your faculty’s attention.
We, the student body of Scotts Hill High School, request everyone within the school board understand that the female body is not for the male gaze. What a girl wears is not permission to sexualize her. Clothing is not consent.
Upon several requests leading up to the present year, the girls of SHHS have been denied of wearing (including but not limited to): mid drift shirts, crop top shirts, tank top shirts, shorts, skirts, dresses, ripped jeans, “jeggings”, and leggings…simply because the Henderson County School Board of Education enables the sexualization of its students.
