Christina Challender started this petition to The HBR#429 community

1.  During the pandemic, the HBR429 Board of Education has been live streaming their monthly board meetings to YouTube.  Whenever possible, they've still met in person (in the HS library), but still continued to broadcast, in order to reach a larger audience.  A link to these meetings can be found at the district's web page, or the viewer can go directly to YouTube and type HBR429 into the search field. We've found these videos to be easily accessible and informative.  Anyone can view the meeting, remotely, from anywhere.

2.  The Board of Education is considering ending this practice of live streaming meetings.

3.  We ask that the Board of Education continue to live stream meetings, and to leave the videos up longer than 24 hours.

4.  -Live streaming the meetings does not cost the district anything extra, as they  already have the technology necessary to broadcast.

-Live streamed meetings can reach an infinite number of households.

-In person meetings are limited in attendance capacity.

-Many times, other district activities (such as games) have occurred simultaneously with district board meetings.  If the meetings are available for viewing on YouTube, the community member can attend the game, and watch the board meeting later.

5.  In order to comply with their own "Communication, Education, and Engagement Plan", we feel that live streamed meetings should continue, as it is the cheapest, quickest, and easiest way of informing and educating the public, which will result in a well informed community.

The HBR#429 C, E, and E plan states: "The following principles serve as the foundation of our plan:-Educating and engaging our community is a responsibility of the District.-Sharing available resources in the greater Hinckley-Big Rock area is a responsibility of the District.-Effective communication is a responsibility of the District.-Communication is an essential function of leadership and a responsibility of all employees.-Timely, accurate, and understandable communication is needed to maintain effective public relationships.-Well-informed citizens will be an asset in fostering broad support."
