The two disability discrimination laws, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) and the Special Educational Needs and Disability (NI) Order 2005 (SENDO), give people with disabilities important rights not to be discriminated against.
This includes being able to easily enter an establishment just as able-bodied individuals do. With that being said, I spend a lot of nights out in The Grove. To give an example, Atomic Cowboy and Bootleg are not accessible through their main entrances.
I have seen my peers who use a wheelchair and other types of support as their way of transportation have to enter from a back, or not be able to enter at all. Although a back entrance allows them into the club, this it is not an inclusive way to do so.
Anyone should be able to enter an establishment through the same entrance as the next person. Please sign this petition to make the nightlife in Saint Louis accessible and ability inclusive!! #STLAccessibleNightLife
