Simran Ahuja started this petition to The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and

"A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single small step"

Musi River or also commonly known as "Musi Nadhi", "Musinuru" and used to be known as "Nerva" during the Qutub Shahi period, is a tributary of the Krishna river in the Deccan plateau which flows through Telangana. If you live in Hyderabad then you most definitely know about this great river. Hyderabad stands on the bank of the river Musi with the river dividing the historic old city and new city. This river in Hyderabad let the Mughals thrive in this city and later the farmers, and today, food growing on the banks of this river have been known to contain harmful heavy metals. As a citizen of Hyderabad, it pains me greatly to observe the gradual death of this river, while doing nothing about it.

As the river flows through Hyderabad, it turns into a giant sewer filled with garbage and industrial waste from the city. What is the cause of this? Extensive Human Interaction. Extensive building of dams, heavy channelling of the water into agricultural lands which causes the water levels to stay low and sedimented with the uncontrolled dumping of sewage and trash. Due to these factors mentioned, The famous river in Hyderabad, which was once a thick gush of water, now barely runs strong enough to use a boat in.

The status of the Musi river in Telangana is horrifying as the river has become a reptile of untreated domestic and industrial waste dumping out from the city due to the lack of planning and indiscriminate urbanisation. The river is an integral part of Hyderabad and it must be restored to its cleanliness and beauty.

This is an issue that needs to be addressed and realized, this issue is not only an obstacle that is for our generation but generations to come. As a member of society, it is each one of ours. It is our responsibility to come together and address this drawback and take a step forward, a small step that can benefit many. Let US pay back to nature, let us save the river that has served us so well.

By signing this, we will be able to send a message to the government about what we want. By signing this we might be able to enforce laws and campaigns in the interest of the restoration and protection of this river. Let us save the Musi River.
