I need your support as physicians for  Dr. Anand Gore, ENT, Latur
Last night while going to IMA meeting, he stopped at zebra crossing in shivaji chowk as a old woman was crossing. The traffic police then started accusing him of stopping traffic illegally. As Anand tried to explain why he stopped, the police took out his car keys, pulled him out of car and started beating him. He then dragged him to shivaji chowk police station where he was further beaten including women constable. A guy identified him and tried to tell them that he’s a doctor in good standing and they even beat him.
When his friends found out, they all ran to the police station. Someone called Amit Deshmukh who then called local SP. SP visited the station and Anand was taken to civil hospital for injuries. While he went there, don’t know what happened in the police station but the traffic police started case against Anand for obstruction of law and order.
He then tore his own shirt and went to civil and accused Anand of beating him.
This has shook Anand in a very humiliating way. Latur IMA is protesting by closing their OPDs today.
I sincerely plead to all of you to show solidarity and to support him in any way you can. If this happened to him today, it can happen to anyone of you. Anand is a gem of a human being and I am not saying it just because he’s my brother in law. Latur IMA will vouch for him.
