Your Excellency Sir,

Barakat Bello was only an 18year old National Diploma 1 student of Science Laboratory Technology at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moore Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State.

She was alone at home on Tuesday, 2nd June, 2020, in the Akinyele area of Ibadan when some unknown hoodlums broke in, attacked, gang-raped and bludgeoned her to death.

She was known to be a respectful, caring and hardworking young girl, diligent in her studies and a devout Muslim.

This is by no means the first case of this kind of bestial and reprehensible criminality across Nigeria, only a few days ago the nation was jolted by a similar incident involving Miss Uwa Omozuwa, a 22year old 100 level student of the University of Benin who was similarly gang-raped and murdered inside a church building on campus.

Sir, we believe that without an immediate action by your government and others to  apprehend and bring to justice the criminals who commit these heinous crimes, the state of security in Oyo State and across the country could further rapidly decay, and we therefore urge you use your good office to mandate your security operatives to fish out and prosecute the perpetrators of this dastardly act, so as to offer a little bit of solace to Barakat's grieving family.
