Petition Closed

Loved ones of Inmates in Michigan are paying double prices for PCS Telcom phone service that has not worked for a year and does not allow, complete calls, or connect calls for much needed communication between Michigan inmates and their loved ones. The contract with PCS Telcom's only success is getting more money to MDOC for budget cuts fixes. Money that Loved Ones pay.

Over the last year loved ones have continued to file complaints regarding the broken phone system.  When taking a call and then trying to "press 0 to accept the call"; far too often the phone system does not connect after hitting "0" multiple times and the call is lost.

There are numerous other issues with the PCS contract, such as the number of phones in institutions being increased was never done, the number of operable phones maintained at all times is not happening, calls do not go through at all just from dialing the number, system causing loved ones to add money online at a more expensive rate when inmates have money on their prepaid debit card all ready, phone calls cutting off after a few minutes for no reason at all, calls going to a different number than the one dialed, and many more issues that are not corrected. PCS contract states they will maintain and fix phone issues within two days of being notified. This does not happen at the institution level.

Prisoners and their loved ones deserve to have fair and equitable rates as compared to the community, and a system that is functional at all times as their contract states. for phone service that has not worked for a year and does not allow, complete calls, or connect calls for much needed communication between Michigan inmates and their loved ones. The contract with PCS Telcom's only success is getting more money to MDOC for budget cuts fixes.

and 1 other
Michigan Governor
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Governor Snyder, Director Heyns, PCS Telcom, Michigan Legislators.

----------------

Loved ones of Inmates in Michigan are paying double prices Inmate Telephone Contract not fulfilled.

PCS Telcom is the company that holds the contract with Michigan Department of Corrections for providing telephone services to inmates and the people they are allowed to call.

PCS was awarded this contract a year ago, this contract nearly doubled the previous phone rates.

Over the last year loved ones have continued to file complaints regarding the broken phone system. When taking a call and then trying to "press 0 to accept the call"; far too often the phone system does not connect after hitting "0" multiple times and the call is lost.

PCS agrees to those who have made it to management about this complaint that this has been a longstanding problem since they took the contract. PCS has stated it can only be fixed one number at a time as it is made aware of the problem by the person of that phone number.

Loved ones of prisoners in Michigan are asking you to sign this petition telling Governor Snyder, Director Heyns, and our Legislative members that the telephone contract is not being fulfilled and should be ended. Prisoners and their loved ones deserve to have fair and equitable rates as compared to the community, and a system that is functional at all times as their contract states. for phone service that has not worked for a year and does not allow, complete calls, or connect calls for much needed communication between Michigan inmates and their loved ones. The contract with PCS Telcom's only success is getting more money to MDOC for budget cut fixes.
