MAKE BALI SAFE AGAIN - STOP SEXUAL ASSAULT

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

There are no grey areas when it comes to sexual violence or harassment. Whether it’s unwanted touching or the expectation of sex, we know it happens every day in Bali and it's never okay

I’m Indonesian and I’ve been living in Bali for two years now. I’ve seen tons of posts about girls being sexually assaulted in Canggu and other areas in Bali and it sounds like there are multiple offenders in all different areas. After I was assaulted last week I feel so angry and I think we should DO SOMETHING about it. These men are not going to stop assaulting women until we take action!

Some of the girls from Canggu Nomad Girls on Facebook group pointed out that there are hundreds of reviews, articles, and blog posts from past tourists who were being chased, sexually harassed, assaulted, or experienced theft while out. As this issue gets worse, visitors leave Bali with negative feelings, reviews and some of them even write a blog. They suggest visiting some other destinations that are similar to Bali but safer. If the Governor doesn’t do anything about this, tourists will stop coming to Bali because they feel threatened by this disgusting behaviour. This will have huge consequences for the economy of the island and all the people who rely on tourism to make a living.

IT’S TIME TO TAKE ACTION AND STOP THIS!

These are some of the stories about sexual assault in Canggu / around the area. Trust me there's much more!

There are people out there who may say it was my fault because of what I was wearing (even though my clothing was conservative) or the time of night I chose to drive alone. After all, every girl has the right to wear what they want, travel where and when they want without their safety being jeopardised. Bali is our home and WE DESERVE to feel safe and secure from this disgusting behaviour.

Let’s make the governor listen.

Thanks for taking some time to sign this petition! I really appreciate your support!
