I have just read a short article that in the past children were living under very awful conditions, under care; because the ‘homes’ were unregulated. The article does mention that since the change in the law, children under 15 cannot be placed in such homes, but it still leaves those 16 and 17 years old. BUT surely no homes should be unregulated, regardless of age. We are all humans and we should be looked after in a proper fashion, where we can rely on an independent body to look after our rights to good conditions of living. All homes should be regulated by an independent body to ensure that the residents are well cared for and their rights to proper living conditions are not abused; not to mention their welfare and finances. I am flabbergasted to think that this is happening in UK, considering that it is supposed to be one of the most powerful countries. One day it could be us or our children or grandchildren in that situation. Surely we want to be looked after safely and know that our loved ones will be protected too. So we need to urge the Government to change the law so that there will be no unregulated homes regardless of the age of their residents.
