Stopping female genital mutilation once and for all

Female genital mutilation involves the removal of the clitoris, inner and outer lips of the vagina, once removed they then sew or staple the two sides of the vulva, leaving a small hole through which to pass urine and menstruate. Typically FGM is performed with a dirty razor blade or another sharp object able to cut through the flesh. This procedure is done on girls between the ages of 4-12 years, these young girls do not get a choice or a say in what happens to their own body. This is traditionally done without anesthetic. Because the procedure is so brutal Female genital mutilation can often lead to severe bleeding, shock, health problems in the future such as urinary problems, impaired wound healing and worst case death. We need to make a change, not just one, two or a couple hundred people but the entire world. I believe we can all come together and put an end to this horrible practice
