The Government Should Make More Animal Shelters For Wild Animals
Why this petition matters
Wildfires destroy animals' (possibly endangered animals) homes and habitats. We can have more animal shelters for wild animals, fire detectors everywhere, and fire-resistant homes (walls.)
Animals like mice, squirrels, and other burrowing animals are affected by the flames, heat, and smoke. Thick smoke from fires can disorient animals, irritate their eyes, and cause difficulty breathing. Burns cause extreme pain. Wildfire is a growing concern in the Bay Area, recent wildfires have claimed lives and destroyed thousands of structures. Wildfires can impact the air quality in cities during a fire, impact water quality in watersheds, damage natural environments, and with lasting impacts on slopes and soils, leading to hillside destabilization, erosion, and landslide. Wildfire risk is increasing in some Bay Area communities due to climate change, because of higher temperatures and longer dry periods over longer fire seasons.
