I'd like to end shark finning, millions of sharks die each year for theirs fins, which are the key elements of a famous asian dish 'shark fin soup'.

Why stop Shark Finning?

Shark finning is unsustainable. Not only do humans decimate shark populations, but sharks have low reproductive rates, making repopulation difficult. Many types of sharks are exploited for their fins, including endangered species such as the Scalloped Hammerhead and Great Hammerhead.

How to stop shark finning?

- Help get the message out there on social media
- Start a flash mob. 
- Start a campaign in your school.
- Sign a petition or make your own. (like I'm doing)
- Start a fundraiser.
- Donate your birthday money to a good cause.

What effects on the planet does shark finning have?

What happens when shark finning continues? Let's assume sharks disappear and therefore another fish can overpopulate the reefs, let's say this fish feeds primarily on juvenile reef fish. Meaning the population of reef fish will decline quite fast which means coral reefs will suffer. 

Where is shark finning taking place?

The Taiwanese are operating throughout the Eastern Pacific, all the way from Mexico down to Northern Chile. And Costa Rica, for at least 20 years, was the hub of the shark fin industry. Even here in Singapore were I live shark finning is present though many don't know about this sad and dark fact.
