It's time to advance in the care of mental illnesses and modernise the hospital for the proper care.

1995 a relative had to be hospitalised here to be observed and get an accurate diagnoses! I complained as we were also seeing the specialist privately! I wrote letters, joined the mental health association and realised the stigma is rife, I was viewed as a potential mental health myself! 26 years down the line I am signing this petition! 26 years late, better than never, yes there is awareness of mental health but all the Maltese do is judge and gossip! A mental health with holistic care, respecting the patient and his family is a necessity - if you have cancer and are terminally ill, you are respected, taken care of and everyone feels sorry for you, if you have mental health issues it's your fault, even family members shun you, everyone judges you and sees you as inhumane, you cease to be a person and you are relegated to incompetent

It's the right thing to do. Mental health is something we should all be concerned with.

Because every person whatever her/his condition is worthy of respect. And people in care are there to be cared for.
