Over the last few decades Jamaica has been repeated raped by international companies and locals alike who destroy valuable land and assets of Jamaica. These interest have given little thought to our future and have left jamaica and Jamaicans with no substantial benefit after causing havoc to the environment.

Bauxite has destroyed valuable farm lands, killing orchards, depriving food security for all Jamaicans. Now we see mining interest destroying forested areas to get to precious limestone, without thought of its impact on indigneous spices.

While Jobs are important we cannot fill a short term want while destroying a long term need. We need to protect the environment at all cost.

The government and the National Environment and Planning Agency must ensure that they protect the little beauty we have left. We cannot continue to be raped and pillaged by these modern day pirates who get rich off us whiLe destroying what is ours.

Do not mine in the Rio Beuno area of Trelawny. Save the environment at all cost. Find other methods of providing work to the people of that area. The people have spoken once that they don't need mining in that area. Do not deny their voice.
