To the government of Hyderabad

we , the citizens of Hyderabad, request you to encourage the use of electric vehicles in Hyderabad. Hyderabad today is seeing a constant increase in the pollution levels and can be dangerous in the coming future. There are a few steps that we have as a suggestion that we have for the government of Hyderabad that we would like to share from the perspective of the local residents of Hyderabad. 

Firstly, we would like to congratulate the government on beginning the spreading awareness on the use of electric vehicles. The citizens of Hyderabad can buy electric vehicles from the market as there is no shortage of them and are at full supply, but the problem is the charging, charging of electric vehicles is a major problem. As of now there are very limited charging stations because of which people who have purchased electric vehicles in Hyderabad are facing many issues for charging the vehicle. We very often read about incidents where people are taking vehicles like scooters inside their flats to charge due to lack of charging stations. We would like to request you as the government of Hyderabad to install charging stations at every 2 km distance or in every petrol station as there are plenty of them around the city, this way people would have easy access to charging stations and would get encouraged to use electric vehicles.

Secondly, bringing policies on governmental electric vehicles usage. The buses that currently operate in Hyderabad have a vast range that they cover everyday and will be more cost saving if you use vehicles that run on electricity rather than petrol or diesel. Transportation like busse, taxis and autos contribute to over 3/4th the pollution created by vehicles on the road. The Government of Hyderabad shall introduce policies that force these vehicles to shift to electric mode. This will also give a chance for the government of Hyderabad to improve the standard of their public transport which isn’t used by everyone due to very low maintenance, by increasing the maintenance, the public transportation can increase their collection because more people would prefer riding in those vehicles and that money can then be later used in installing more charging stations in the city or pay for the charging of the transportation. Also, using electric mode of transportation for public transport will reduce the cost by a big margin as it would reduce the cost of charging the vehicles. 

We, as the citizens of Hyderabad, would like to place our sincere request to the government to support electric vehicles in Hyderabad because of the alarming increase in climate change. We would also like the government to invest just rs. 700 crores in this project, the amount might seem big but it can save lives of lakhs of people in the city and also save the city as well, or the day isn’t far when Hyderabad becomes like Delhi in terms of climate change and high increase in pollution. So, we think that the increase in the usage of electric vehicles in Hyderabad can play a major role in reducing the rate of climate change.
