Petition Statement: As a concerned citizen of Hyderabad, I would like to ask the government to improve the conditions of transportation systems in the city, to help reduce climate change.

Supporting Detail: Our World and our surroundings are directly connected to us as both are interdependent on each other. Our Environment treats us the way we treat our environment. When we pollute the environment, we harm ourselves without knowing it as at the end of the day, we are the ones inhabiting our planet and if anything were to happen to our planet, it obviously also affects us.

Many things we do in our daily life have effects that we cannot even imagine are harmful. We only realize this once, it starts having huge implications. Our city, Hyderabad is a Metropolitan (MEDC) City, meaning that it firstly has a huge population, and secondly most of that population thrives on Industrial or Business hubs that are located in the city. These factors do make a city more developed and technological but it also has a downside. All the development and huge population become a source of contribution towards an incredibly serious problem in today's world- Climate Change.

Climate Change has Largely impacted our city as we have already started experiencing forms of extreme weather events such as heatwaves, intense rainfalls, droughts, and hailstorms. We need to stop this before it's too late.

The core reason for climate change is our global carbon emission rate, which is extremely high in Hyderabad due to its high population. This high population results in more people with automobiles thus, cars and scooters emitting more CFC gases that harm the environment.

One way we can reduce this is by communizing public transport. From several surveys, it has come to notice that approximately 67% of urbanites fear using public transport due to hygiene and safety issues. If these problems were addressed, the number of people opting for public transport would increase, which would further result in a decrease of carbon emissions caused by private vehicles.
