We, the people, request that the Government of Canada add Nunavut to the Eternal Flame Display at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Nunavut was established in 1999 and has been a part of Canada for 13 years. We believe that it would be appropriate for Nunavut to be represented and stand on equal grounds with the other provinces and territories. Knowing that Ottawa and Gatineau have the highest population of Inuit outside of Nunnat, and that Parliament is the face of Canada, we feel that it would bring a sense of pride and nationalism to the Inuit communities of our country. This would also create a better scope of the diversity and respectful nature of Canada to the tourists who pass by the Eternal Flame. Further, knowing that Gatineau has updated their stonework to include Nunavut, and that Parliament is currently under maintenance, we feel this would be a simple request to fulfill.
