Nurses Need to Be Included in Bill C-211

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

Bill C-211 was created to enact more assessment, treatment and diagnostics for first responders with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While this is a wonderful bill, nurses are NOT included. Nurses, although not first responders, experience many forms of trauma and should have equal access to the new and improved diagnosis and treatment of PTSD.

In 2018, The Ottawa Hospital funded a pilot project for an outpatient clinic for first responders with PTSD. Nurses experience trauma, but do not have access to this first-of-a-kind outpatient clinic, and are stuck with management resources that may not be helpful for their mental health.

Change needs to happen. Nurses need to be EXPLICITLY included in Bill C-211 so we, nurses, can be included in pilot projects to help our mental health.
