The Government of Bangladesh and the Chairman of Grameen Bank
Grameen bank, the unique organization handcrafted by the Nobel peace prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, is 97% owned by its borrowers -The borrowers being 8.6 million women.
The majority board of directors are chosen out of these women borrowers and they are entitled to make all major decisions. Since this bank has raised these very women out of poverty. The connection the bank and these large population of women share are indeed a very special and unique one.
Recently, the government has change amended the system of the entire bank as a part of their attempt to bring down the Nobel laureate. This new system makes the women directors almost powerless and gives majority of the power technically to the government.
We believe that this is nothing but a meaningless behaviour of the prime minister against the Nobel laureate for which 8.6 million women are having to suffer for no reason at all and this is where I need your help! Please sign the petition a help return the bank to its rightful owners of the bank - the 8.6 million women.
