Carla Burns started this petition to The Government

Currently those applying for British citizenship have to pass the "Life in the UK" test which is supposed to establish whether or not someone has sufficient knowledge of the UK to be able to live as a citizen. The test is currently completely unfit for purpose and the average native British citizen would be unlikely to pass - which makes it completely unsuitable. In addition to this it adds additional stress and pressure to those applying for citizenship with particular hardship to EU citizens who now feel they have no choice but to apply to guarantee their rights as the ambiguous nature of Settled Status does not give them the reassurance they seek and have the right to vote. Yves has lived, worked and paid taxes in this country for 20 years and now has to apply for the right to stay in his own home. Paperwork and admin cause him huge stress and the thought of having to sit an exam which is completely irrelevant is keeping him awake at night. Please help us raise awareness of this issue and make the process of applying for citizenship relevant and fit for purpose.
