The Government: Introduce animal welfare into school curriculum.

Introducing animal care and welfare into primary and secondary curriculum can only be a positive way of trying to prevent the mistreatment and cruelty towards animals, as well as teaching social skills from a young age, such as empathy and kindness.

All over the world, extreme cases of animal cruelty takes place, such as wildlife poaching of highly endangered species, fur farms and dog fighting. However, this sort of behaviour does not suddenly hit people at a certain age where they deliberately decide to become cruel. It is with them throughout childhood and adolescence. Our beliefs and actions are given to us at a young age; they are the foundations of our choices and decisions in life.

If young children can be taught the importance of looking after the world around them, the urgency of protecting wildlife and even the significance of looking after their own pets properly, then I believe that this will have a significant impact on preventing animal cruelty nationally and internationally.
