The gender pay gap has been an issue for women across the country for as long as women have been able to work. While its been illegal since 1970 it hasn't stopped companies from taking advantage of women in the work place. One way in which they do this is by not allowing flexible working hours, this means that women struggle to reach higher positions because they tend to have more responsibilities outside of work, eg. children. Higher positions, tend to be higher paying- this creates a gender pay gap.
