Why this petition matters

Started by Tristen White

The harsh truth is we are being manipulated to value perfection within our society and believe that those who don’t fall under this category are inferior. Australia’s attitude towards differences shadows a very dystopian nature which consequently has led to a massive social divide where the disabled community is significantly disadvantaged. They are denied employment, education, and independence, but for what, they can be just as capable, let alone probably even more so. Not only have they been able to adapt to a society that doesn’t accommodate for them, they thrive in it. They have found alternate and creative ways of living in a prejudiced world. No matter how capable, even the smallest disability ruins the chance of independence because of unjust bigotry. Bigotry that has come about because of the ridiculous ideologies that have been indoctrinated into us. And by who; the government. The people who are supposed to support our society. But think about it, if they have the power to manipulate a whole society to value perfection, what’s next? What’s the next thing they deem isn’t good enough and will it apply to you? Until we are prepared to demand access for people who are different then we are perpetuating the assumption and belief that able-bodied people are superior.

To truly make a change we need to open our eyes and make a stand against the bigots; the people who think that oppressing people that are different is okay. If all of us today sign this online petition we can demand a public inquiry which is exactly the kind of action we need so that the government can’t keep dismissing this issue.
