Equal pay for all pensioners

The introduction of the flat rate pension on 6th April 2016 applies only to those qualifying after that date and is currently £155.65 while pensioners already drawing state pension at the basic rate get £119.30. Although there is a means tested top up for people on the present basic minimum the new flat rate is not subject to means testing and is paid to all who reach the qualifying age regardless of means..It is clearly unfair to pay a lower rate to some, when a higher amount has been set as the norm. A flat rate pension should apply to all who have the right to the state pension.
