All vets by law have to Scan pets to confirm they belong to you

Three years ago on 21st December 2014, my beautiful & very much loved cat,Sid, went missing. I am still heartbroken. I spent months searching, putting up flyers, & appealing on FB groups. I am going to put forward an appeal to the Government to make it compulsory for Vets to scan every cat for a chip when they are taken to the surgery. It only takes a few seconds, but could save years of heartbreak for families whose cat is missing. If my much missed Sid had been ‘adopted’ by somebody, & needed to go to the vet at some time, he would’ve been scanned for a chip,& returned to me so I would still have him to love & cuddle, & he would be with his own family. So will you please sign the Petition to get a compulsory scanning law by vets, passed by the Government.
The Appeal. We, The undersigned, ask that it should be made compulsory for Vets to scan all cats for a chip, when brought to the surgery. This would ensure that the person who has possession of the cat,is indeed it’s rightful owner. So many families are heartbroken when their cat goes missing. Please help us get our much loved,& very much missed pets, back to their own families. Renate Glenister
