Sickle cell disease has been making life miserable for those with the disease... Fortunately the disease is preventable if the necessary tests are been done before choosing a reproductive partner..... Unfortunately, a large part of the population are ignorant on the causes of the disease and the necessary steps taken to prevent the disease.....

Sickle cell disease being a genetically transmitted disease means it is inherited from parents who possess the gene..... A person with the gene choosing a woman with the gene have a chance of giving birth to a child with the disease....

Since that's the case, why making a partnership when you know that you both have the sickle cell gene???? Unfortunately many don't know about this hence the need to educate the large population that are ignorant and make a law against two people with the sickle cell gene marrying each other.....
