When I was 7 months pregnant with my first child, my husband lost his job. We received food assistance in the form of an EBT card aka food stamps. We were able to buy healthy foods from all the grocery stores. My family moved back to Florida after the death of a family member. I had a good job however my position has been cut back to part time and my husband hasn't been able to find a job. We are once again lucky to qualify for food assistance however the Fresh Market does not accept these. I overheard a manager whisper to a cashier that they "don't want our kind" shopping there. In addition, I overheard the manager to tell me that they are working on accepting EBT. That was over 2 months ago.

One of my family member's was trying to organize a charity event and got the run around for over 3 weeks from their representative when asking for food donations.

Please help get the word out that lower income people are still people deserving of a nice grocery store to shop in and that EBT is just as good as cash.
