Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), as the body responsible for referees in England, should be disbanded and a new, properly regulated body should be established to replace it.  The standard of refereeing in England at Football League and Premier League levels has deteriorated over the last 20 years to the point that English referees are no longer appointed to World Cup tournaments.  The PGMOL is self-regulating and has no accountability, with referees not being held accountable for poor performances.  Referees are intended to be neutral arbitrators of games, but are facing accusations of bias and have been involved in controversy.  Referees are responsible for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, but have shown incompetence in operating the system.  None of the current failings are being addressed by the PGMOL.  Instead, it continues to appoint the same referees to the elite group for Premier League matches and to deny that standards have fallen.  Whenever Football League clubs play Premier League clubs in cup games, there are accusations of bias towards the top level clubs.  There have been well documented and acknowledged occasions when vocal managers, such as Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, managed to have referees removed from their clubs' games for long periods.  Such favouritism and incompetence must stop, otherwise supporters will be driven away from the games.  Therefore, I ask you to support a call to the FA to disband the PGMOL.
