There is no logical reason to ban the donation of blood by men who have had sex with men providing they are healthy and follow safe sex practices. This is largely backed by the fact that there is no ban on other groups who choose to participate in similar sexual activity along with a huge invasion of personal privacy. Finally, the screening on blood is very present. If this intense screening process was not present, there would be reason to eliminate more high-risk donors, but it exists. By disallowing a man who has had sex with another man to donate blood is discrimination because there is no scientific reason to prohibit this and should be allowed, especially in times of need where blood donations are crucial. The automatic elimination of 10 percent of the population could cost people their lives.
