This last Thursday (2/3/2022), The Flats at West Village sent out an email updating their parking policies without engaging with paying residents. They now demand that all visitors must have a "visibly displayed visitors permit to park in visitor or "R" spaces" and visitor parking permits cost "$10 a night (3 consecutive days max) or $100 for one full month". Additionally, paying residents may only pick up the visitor parking permit during business hours, leaving no room for residents to have visitors after 5 pm unless planned far in advance, nor do they explain if visitors must pay to stay during the day but not overnight. These changes are ridiculous. Many residents pay hundreds, if not in the thousands, of dollars to live here and we are constantly treated unfairly. This recent change adds to the long list of shameful actions residents continue to experience. Aces Towing Company, which "camps outside" the building, constantly harrases residents and visitors alike. They pressure residents to only pay in cash once towed and argue with residents if they pay with a card. Those of us who have been to Aces Towing, unfortunately, have witnessed the cruel treatment of their dogs - which are chained outside during snow, rain, and harsh weather too.

The requests are simple, doable, and beneficial to both paying residents and management!
First, reinstate free visitor parking. It is unfair, inconsiderate, and ridiculous that residents who live here must ask their visitors (friends and family), to pay to visit. Especially considering how much money The Flats makes, there is no need to make us pay for MORE parking.
Second, expand the amount of visitor parking spaces. Having all "R" spots converted into visitor parking was the right gesture and they should keep that change! It has been difficult to find any visitor parking with hundreds of residents living here and less than ten valid visitor parking spots; expanding the visitor parking spaces is necessary and efficient.
Third, cut the contract with Aces Towing. They are unethical and disreputable, and The Flats should not be working with this company.
