We want to bring awareness to the passing of the Emmett Till Anti-lynching Act. The Act has been passed, but failed at changing racism.
Many lynchings occurred in the South during 1916 and they are still occurring!
Missouri Representative Leonidas Dyer introduced the Anti-Lynching Bill in 1918 and it was passed on July 28 of that year. Dyer’s bill did not include all hate crimes that happen against people of color.
The second attempt at this bill was passed on March 8, 2022. This bill includes most hate crimes, but not all. This bill is also not being enforced as it should be.
People need to be educated on this matter because it is so important for the fight for racial justice.
